Ever faithful, Uncle Tony led us in worship in Riverview and Avian Park. We took the time to review our lesson over the death and resurrection of Christ and the life of Joseph. I explained to the children how Joseph was an Old Testament Christ figure or a person who has the character of Jesus. He was a faithful suffering servant who for gave his brothers just as Jesus for gave us of our sins. He also was chosen and given a special robe of distinction just as Jesus had. The kids did well answering questions.

Then, we went to Avian Park. We’ve been meeting at the library there for the last three weeks. The girls worshipped beautifully, and they also answered questions based on the Resurrection eggs that I used last week as a teaching tool. Mazvita asked the questions this go-around. They were lucky winners of some delicious Woolies’ chocolate. For my American compatriots, Woolworths still lives.

With this coming Easter weekend, our message today was also about Jesus' story.

After praise and worship led by Uncle Tony, Miss Mella shared the message using Ressurection Eggs. Inside each plastic egg was a small item representing different parts of the Easter story- from Jesus riding into town on a donkey, to the Angels rolling the rock away from the empty tomb and finding just His clothes folded up neatly.

With an invitation from Uncle Tony, Soerita, Alrumano, Bronwyn, and Taylor-Ann took the big step of giving their hearts to Jesus. Please pray for them to stand strong and firm in their decision.

Some of the children in Riverview who didn't get their birthday chocolates last week received them today, and in Avian Park the girls had their turn in choosing a book as we didn't have enough last week.

We also handed out some food donations to some needy families, but the majority of the rice and maize will be handed out over the next few weeks.

Mazvita, Ronel, and Miss Mella then handed out Oros drinks and cookies to everyone.

As we learn about Joseph’s life, one of the key lessons: The others might attempt or mean to harm us, God takes what was meant for evil and turns it for good. We began learning the lyrics to this new song, “See A Victory”
by Elevation Worship:

The weapon may be formed, but it won't prosper
When the darkness falls, it won't prevail
'Cause the God I serve knows only how to triumph
My God will never fail
Oh, my God will never fail
I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You, Lord
I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You, Lord (oh yeah)
There's power in the mighty name of Jesus
Every war He wages He will win
I'm not backing down from any giant
'Cause I know how this story ends
Yes, I know how this story ends
I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You, Lord
I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle belongs to You, Lord
I'm gonna see a victory
I'm gonna see a victory
For the battle…

After last week's gush of winds and rain, today we experienced a hot summer's day.

In Riverview, Ronel did today's lesson on Joseph, finishing the second part of lesson 2 on the series. She recapped the story about Joseph and Potiphar’s wife. Ultimately, Joseph wad thrown into jail even after honoring God's will and not giving in to the temptation of sleeping with her. God was still with Joseph though and gave him favor even in jail.

She explained to them to not give into the temptation we experience daily and to honor God's word. For instance, Joseph might have escaped slavery by sleeping with Potiphar’s wife, but then he would have been enslaved by his sin against God. We also can become "slaves" to our sins.

At first, we thought we might not have a meeting in Avian Park today as almost no one was there on time. Luckily, 3 girls came and as we started, more and more showed up. We want to thank Susan for letting us use her house again for our meeting.

Mazvita reviewed the lesson about emotional well-being with them and handed out their lessons for next week. Miss Mella assisted in explaining to the girls again about what is NOT allowed in a relationship and that you should be able to answer the question of why you are in a relationship with a certain person. If you do not have the foresight of marrying that person, there isn't any other good enough reason to be in a relationship. Set your standards, guard your heart, and do not fall into temptation.

To help them with these, Miss Mella told them about the red light (no go zone), the yellow light (be very cautious), and the green light (acceptable).

We ended both meetings with nice Oros cold drinks and cookies!
